The Simpsons expansion officially announced by the Universal Orlando Resort

Today, Universal Orlando Resort finally announced the Springfield expansion which will include a brand new attraction and food and drink locations.

So Springfield is coming to the Universal Orlando Resort later this year. Construction for the project began back in November last year fueling speculation for the expansion of the area to form Springfield. 

The expansive, new area within Universal Studios will be anchored by the mega-attraction, The Simpsons Ride, and will allow guests to enter the world of The Simpsons like never before. The area will feature iconic places from the FOX TV show like Krusty Burger and Moe's Tavern.

In a press release from the park said Mark Woodbury, President of Universal Creative said “This will be a must-see experience for Simpsons fans all over the world. For the first time ever, they're going to be able to enter a world that they've only seen on television, and we're really excited to bring that world to life.”

Along with the new eateries shops and watering holes there will be a new attraction opposite The Simpsons Ride called Kang & Kodos’ Twirl ‘n’ Hurl which will take “foolish humans” on an intergalactic spin designed to send them out into orbit.

On the way you will be able to stroll down Fast Food Boulevard and visit the places iconic to the show. new eateries will include the Frying Dutchman, Luigi’s Pizza, Lard Lad Donuts and Taco Fresho

Also Duff Beer will be brewed exclusively for the expansion for consumption in Moe's Tavern. 

The expansion is set to open later this year.
